Delhi government advises all private schools in city to remain closed till January 15

While some private schools were to re-open from January 9, the government has advised an extension in the vacation.

New Delhi: Directorate of Education of the Delhi government has advised all private schools of the capital city to remain closed till 15 January 2023 due to the cold wave prevailing in the city. While some private schools were to re-open from January 9, the government has advised an extension in the vacation.

After an extension in winter vacation till January 15 in Bihar and Jharkhand, and with some schools in Rajasthan extending the re-opening date, the Delhi government took the decision to implement the same. The Directorate of Education released an advisory stating that all schools in the city are to remain closed till January 15. Remedial classes for standards 9 to 12 are expected to carry on.

Meanwhile, IMD Scientist Dr RK Jenamani said that the department has issued a Red warning for Punjab, Haryana, UP, Chandigarh, and Delhi. On the other hand, an Orange alert has been issued for Rajasthan and Bihar. Very dense fog to dense fog is predicted while there will be no coldwave from January 10 onward. he added that the new western disturbance is expected from the night of January 10, which means that there will be a reduction in the intensity of the dense fog and coldwave.

In Noida as well, the schools will remain shut till January 14 for Classes 1-8 while the timings for Classes 9-12 have been changed to 8 am-2 pm until further notice.
