Social media at backburner, UP cadre 1st preference: Know about UPSC topper Shruti Sharma’s choices

Meanwhile, 23 candidates have been selected from Jamia Residential Coaching Academy, from which Shruti also prepared for her Civil Services exam.

New Delhi: Social media handles including Facebook & Instagram have been a stumbling block for students rather than being a supporting tool in their education. And, the same has been ascertained by UPSC topper 2022 Shruti Sharma, who ranked Number 1 in one of the most competitive examinations in the country.

After topping the UPSC examinations, Shruti Sharma in conversation with press revealed that she maintained a ‘good distance’ from social media and used it sparingly.

Speaking to newsmen, she said, “I’ve used social media in a balanced way. My strategy was to make my own notes from newspapers & focus on answer writing practice for better presentation.”

“My first preference is UP cadre”, she added when asked about her choice of place of work.

Shruti is a graduate from St. Stephens College of Delhi University and completed her post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Then, she joined Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy to prepare for the Civil Services exam.

Shruti’s family is elated & overjoyed at her achievement. Her mother told mediapersons, “I am very happy. It’s because of her efforts as she studied really hard for this. We asked her for sleep but she would keep herself engrossed in studies. She used social media in a very limited manner.”

Meanwhile, 23 candidates have been selected from Jamia Residential Coaching Academy, from which Shruti also prepared for her Civil Services exam. “23 people have been selected from Jamia Coaching Academy. We are feeling very proud and have come here to congratulate her”, Jamia Millia Islamia VC Najma Akhtar told ANI.

This year’s UPSC examination results have yet again proved the supremacy of women candidates as they have occupied the top 4 slots.

Ankita Aggarwal, Gamini Singla and Aishwarya Verma secured second, third and fourth place respectively.
