Supreme court agrees to listen plea demanding cancellation of offline Board exams for classes 10, 12

The PILs are filed by students of 15 states across the country in the SC against the conduct of offline examinations amid the pandemic

New Delhi: Big news for crores of students preparing for the CBSE, CICSE, and Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in various states for the year 2021-22. The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a plea seeking cancellation of offline Board examinations to be conducted by CBSE, ICSE, and all the other State Boards.

The PIL challenging the conduct of examinations in the physical mode will be heard by a division bench headed by Supreme Court Judge M. Khanwilkar.

The request made for the urgent listing of the writ petition was accepted by the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana saying, “the matter will now be heard before the bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar”.

It has been reportedly said in the petition that since physical classes have not been held due to Kovid, the examinations should be conducted in online mode instead of traditional physical examinations.

CBSE board exams begins today

The PILs are filed by students of 15 states across the country in the Supreme Court against the conduct of offline examinations amid the pandemic.

It is to be noted that the board examinations for Secondary and Senior Secondary of CBSE, ICSE, and ICA of CISC, High School and Intermediate classes of various states are to be conducted in offline mode i.e. at the examination center. Students and parents are opposing the conduct of these examinations in offline mode.

Last year, CBSE, CISCE, and other state boards had evaluated the students of class 10 and 12 on the basis of alternative assessment criteria, wherein the evaluation was made on the basis of internal exams.
