New Delhi: In the 2024 Filmfare awards, which was held at Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on January 28, in a satisfying moment for all the movie fans in India, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directed 12th Fail, has won the best film award after being highly acclaimed by the critics and fans ever since its release.

The film is based on a real life story in which the Mirzapur fame Vikrant Massey has played the role of the main protagonist.

Notably, Vikrant Massey also won the best actor (critics) award for his brilliant portrayal of the Chambal-based IAS aspirant turned officer.

12th Fail director Vidhu Vinod Chopra also won the Best Director and Best Screenplay awards for the movie in the Filmfare ceremony.

On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt won the Best Male and Female Actor award for their brilliant performance in Animal and Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Katha, respectively.

Rani Mukherjee and Shefali Shah shared the Best Female Actor (critics) award for their roles in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway and Three of Us, respectively.

Movie plot

The movie is based on the real-life story of Chambal-based IAS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, who, after getting inspired by a police officer in his area, decided to focus on studying and becoming a police officer.

Manoj, in his journey faced many adverse situations but, with his sheer determination and hard work, finally fulfilled his dream and became an IAS officer in his last attempt.

Actor Vikrant Massey portrayed the role of Manoj Kumar Sharma, while Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee were also present in the movie in prominent roles.
