New Delhi: In 1994, Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi collaborated for the first time on the iconic comedy film, Andaz Apna Apna. This cult classic, also starring Salman Khan, has gained a legendary status in Indian cinema. Over the years, fans have eagerly awaited a reunion of the lead cast with the director. Rajkumar Santoshi has made efforts to team up individually with both Aamir and Salman, but unfortunately, these plans haven’t come to fruition.

Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi, known for their collaboration on the cult classic Andaz Apna Apna, are set to reunite after 30 years for an upcoming entertainment-packed film. Sources reveal that Aamir has been impressed with the subject developed by Santoshi and they have been working on it together for several months. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and scheduled to begin filming in January 2024. It will be released during the Christmas weekend of 2024. This project marks the 16th film from Aamir Khan’s production banner. They have also signed a two-film deal, with Aamir committing to act in the first film while the second one is planned for 2025. Aamir was captivated by both the subjects and is excited to collaborate with the director known for iconic films like Ghayal, Ghatak, Damini, Khakhee, and Bhagat Singh.

Aamir Khan will be producing the film in partnership with Jio Studios as part of a multi-film deal. This comes as a surprising choice from Aamir, known for his unexpected decisions. Besides the Rajkumar Santoshi film, Aamir Khan is also producing several other movies, including remakes of Champions and Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. Despite facing several controversies and failing to perform well commercially, Aamir Khan’s last release, Laal Singh Chaddha, garnered positive reception after its OTT release. The movie, based on the Hollywood film Forrest Gump and adapted by Atul Kulkarni, featured Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role. Initially, the makers had considered casting former Miss World Manushi Chhillar for the part. The ensemble cast also included Shah Rukh Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh, and Manav Vij. Directed by Advait Chandan, who previously helmed Secret Superstar for Aamir, the film received a warm response from audiences once it was released on OTT platforms.
