Alia Bhatt breaks silence on viral video of maid brutally thrashing pet dog in Mumbai, says, “Next time you…”

In the viral clip, a middle-aged caretaker dressed in a green saree was seen thrashing a beagle dog named Bira while walking him on a footpath in Mumbai.

New Delhi: Bollywood diva Alia Bhatt recently joined the list of celebrities who reacted to the recently circulated video of a maid misbehaving with her owner’s dog in broad daylight.

In the viral clip, a middle-aged caretaker dressed in a green saree was seen thrashing a beagle dog named Bira while walking him on a footpath in Mumbai.

The disturbing footage of the woman’s distressing behavior with the animal made rounds on the internet a few days back & stirred outrageous reactions from netizens across Social Media.

Taking to the comment Box, X users not only slammed the lady for ill-treating the dog but also demanded legal action against her over the same.

Besides the commoners, a few Bollywood celebrities including Soha Ali Khan  & Sophie Chaudhry also raised concerns regarding the incident, requesting the victim dog’s owners to approach local authorities & take strict action against the accused lady.

Sophie Chaudhry confronts the accused woman

Meanwhile, instead of waiting for anyone else to take action on the matter, Sophie Chaudhry herself stepped up and even managed to speak with the dog’s owners Shweta and Parth who told her that they are set to return to India from Dubai on 19 April 2024.

Sharing an update about the same, the 42-year-old actress then took to her Instagram handle & revealed that the animal’s owner confessed to being traumatized by the viral video which is apparently about 6 months old. She wrote,” I managed to get in touch with Parth and Shweta, who own the dog. Shweta told Malini Agarwal and me, she had never seen this video and was traumatised.”

Chaudhry further claimed that she spoke to the maid in person who, despite committing the heinous act with the dog, has not been fired by the owners and is still working for them.

“I  confronted the maid in person too, who is shockingly still employed with them. Bira is now with Jehan Canine Centre. Hopefully, they sack this maid tomorrow and take care of Bira.”  wrote before concluding her post.

Alia Bhatt’s Reaction

Hours after Sophie provided an update on the dog beating incident in her Instagram story, Alia, On Friday, re-posted it and urged for strict action against the aggressor lady.

She wrote, “Next time you see someone do this to a dog/cat any pet or animal, just take a video and take it straight to the authorities. There has had to have to be stronger stricter punishment for people thinking they can just take out their frustration and crap onto a pet,”

The actress further lauded Sophie & others who made honest efforts to raise their voice for the animal & added, “We have become so unbearably inhuman. It’s just so disheartening and disgusting. Kudos to you my friend @sophiechoudry for being a responsible citizen and to all those out there doing the same.”

Nevertheless, it’s still unclear if the maid’s owners or the authorities have taken any action against the accused woman so far or not.
