New Delhi: To commemorate Kodandera M Cariappa taking charge of the Indian Army from colonial rule, Army Day is celebrated in the country every year on January 15.

Bollywood has always crafted the bravery of the Indian army with accurateness and presented before its audiences the sacrifices and dedication it takes to serve one’s own country.

Thus to celebrate Army Day this year, let’s look at some of the Hindi language films and web series Bollywood has given us over the years.

7 Hindi films and series to watch this Army Day: 

1. State of Seige: 26/11

The State of Seige: 26/11 narrates the story of the Indian Army’s operation to save as many lives as possible during the massacre at Mumbai conducted by Pakistan terrorists. The show features Arjun Bijlani, Arjan Bajwa, Mukul Decv, Sid Makkad and Tara Alisha Berry in leading role. The series is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11.

 

2. Shershah

The film revolves around the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Bikram Batra from his first army posting to his death in Kargil War. Sidharth Malhotra was seen playing the role of the Captain while Kiara Advani played the role of his lover.

 

3. The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye

A story showcasing the bravery of Subhas Chandra Bose-led Indian Army and the fight for the nation from British rule. Sunny Kaushal and Sharvari Wagh played the lead roles in the series.

 

4. URI: The Surgical Strike

The movie that made Vicky Kaushal reach new heights was URI: The Surgical Strike. The movie was released in January 2019 was based on a fictional story that manifested the covert operation carried out by the Indian Army, based on the incident of the 2016 Uri attacks.

 

5. Lakshya

The fictional movie starred Hrithik Roshan as a young and reckless boy who turned into a great soldier with time. The movie was set in the backdrop of the Kargil War. The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan and Preity Zinta.

 

6. Bhuj: The Pride of India

The movie is based on the true incidents of the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The movie narrates how with true dedication the Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik with the help of 300 local women reconstructed the damaged landing strip in 72 hours. The movie starred Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha in main roles.

 

7. Avrodh: The Siege Within

Amit Sadh and Neeraj Kabi starrer action series is based on a chapter from the book India’s Most Fearless, written by Rahul Singh and Shiv Aroor. The series revolves around the 2018 URI surgical strike.
