New Delhi: The National Best Friends Day is celebrated on June 8, every year. It is a day of celebration to honour the special friend that you have in your lives.
Amid the pandemic, as people can’t visit their best friends, they are wishing them on National Best Friends Day via social media groups.
National Best Friends Day in the USA began in 1935. Over time, the National Best Friends Day spread across the globe in many countries.
Bollywood has experimented with this theme, time and time again, glorifying the spirit of friendship. Several movies have doled out hit movies celebrating friendship goals.
From Jai and Veeru to Rahul and Anjali or even Ramu and Mohan, Indian cinema has seen many ‘friends’ setting the screen on fire, giving out major friendship goals.
5 movies which celebrated bond of friendship:
1) Dosti (1964)
The black-and-white film, directed by Satyen Bose, focused on the friendship between two handicapped boys – one blind and other a cripple. One was good at playing instrument while other was a good singer. The duo teamed up to sing song on streets and raised money. It won people’s hearts to see them thrive with their shared abilities.
2) Sholay (1984)
The most iconic movie of Indian film industry starred Jai and Veeru (played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmednra respectively). They were small-time thieves and were hired by a retired police officer to capture Gabbar Singh (played by Amjad Khan). Famous song “Yeh Dosti” has been anthem of friendship for years.
3) Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
Shah Rukh and Kajol played lead roles while Rani Mukherjee played a cameo in the love triangle. SRK’s daughter in the movie was a key figure in the flick.
4) 3 Idiots (2009)
The comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani effortlessly portrayed the friendship of three students at an engineering college. The film is a journey in friendship and the extent friends will go for each other.
5) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
The story of the film is about three childhood friends who reunite for a three-week bachelor road trip when one of them gets engaged. During their trip, each friend selects one dangerous sports and all three have to take part in it.
