Filmmakers Ayan Mukerji and Karan Johar confirm Brahmastra sequels on social media 

Ayan Mukerji and Karan Johar celebrate the first anniversary of “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva” and confirm that parts two and three of the film are still in development.

New Delhi: In the midst of swirling rumors that the sequels to the epic fantasy film “Brahmastra” were on the brink of cancellation, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji has taken to social media to set the record straight. On the one-year anniversary of the release of “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva,” Mukerji confirmed that the highly-anticipated second and third installments of the film are indeed in active development.

In a recent Instagram post, Ayan Mukerji shared a captivating video montage featuring scenes from the first installment of “Brahmastra.” Accompanying the visuals were the words, “On 9th Sept 2022 we introduced you to a world of astras. Celebrating 1 year of Brahmastra. Brahmastra part two and three development in progress.” Mukerji went on to express his gratitude, saying, “Happy 1st Birthday, Brahmāstra! Thank you for all the Creativity, all the HardWork, and for all the Lessons in Film-making, and in life! Fans and enthusiasts of the “Brahmastra” franchise rejoiced upon hearing this confirmation. Many took to the comments section to express their excitement and offer words of encouragement. “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva,” released in 2022, marked the initiation of a high-budget fantasy adventure franchise helmed by Ayan Mukerji. The film follows the journey of Shiva, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor, as he embarks on a quest to uncover the origins of his extraordinary powers, accompanied by Isha, played by Alia Bhatt. The stellar cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy, with special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Nagarjuna. The film was jointly produced by Star Studios and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, achieving remarkable commercial success, grossing over ₹400 crore worldwide, even in the midst of the pandemic.

Mukerji’s announcement also confirmed that “Brahmastra Part Two” and “Brahmastra Part Three” are on the horizon. These sequels, slated for release in 2026 and 2027, are expected to be grander and more ambitious than their predecessor, further expanding the captivating narrative of the “Brahmastra” franchise.
