From ‘The Archies’ to ‘Khufiya’: Netflix announces 8 films under ‘Films Day’ campaign

New Delhi: Netflix is bringing ‘Films Day’ and under this program, the OTT platform has announced eight films. It is good news for binge-watchers as Netflix celebrating its 25 years anniversary and has launched a campaign with #HarDinFilmyOnNetflix. Netflix has shared various posters, teasers and behind-the-scenes to intrigue the viewers.

From ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ to ‘Khufiya’, Netflix is taking care of every genre. Take a look at the nine upcoming films:

The first look of Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’ was shared by the makers earlier in May. The film stars Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda, and Vedang Raina. The adaptation of the comic book is produced by Reema Kagti and written by Akhtar, Kagti and Ayesha DeVitre.

Netflix released a behind-the-scene conversation teaser of ‘The Archies’. The conversation takes the viewers into nostalgia, remembering the popular comic book.

Netflix released the cast posters of the film, giving an insight into the thriller. Helmed by Vasan Bala, the film features Rajkummar Rao, Huma S Qureshi, Radhika Apte, Sikandar Kher, Bagavathi Perumal, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Sukant Goel, and Zayn Marie Khan.

Vasan Bala said that the film deals with lust, blackmail, betrayal, blood, mystery, and some robots crushing human skulls. It is a film about survival, he added.

‘Plan A Plan B’ is an interesting love story between a matchmaker and a divorce attorney. Starring Riteish Deshmukh and Tammanah Bhatia in the lead, the film is helmed by Shashanka Ghosh. The film also features Poonam Dhillon and Kusha Kapila.

Netflix shared an interesting teaser and announced the release date. The film will be streaming from September 30 onwards.

4. Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga

Directed by Ajay Singh, the suspense-thriller stars Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal. As the name suggests, it is a story of thieves. The film is produced by Maddock Films, Dinesh Vijan, and Amar Kaushik.

Netflix shared the behind-the-scenes footage of the film, which shows some interesting sequences shot on a plane.

5. Khufiya

Vishal Bhardwaj is back with ‘Khufiya’, which stars Tabu. The spy-drama is an adaptation of ‘Escape to Nowhere’ written by the ex-Chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&AW, Amar Bhushan. The film also features Ali Fazal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Azmeri Haque Badhon in the cast.

Netflix shared a teaser, revealing the first look of various characters in the film.

Netflix released the motion of this bizarre mystery drama that revolves around a young police officer solving a case of a politician’s missing jackfruit. The film stars Sanya Malhotra in the lead, along with Anant Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Neha Saraf in pivotal roles.  It is the directorial debut of Yashowardhan Mishra, who co-wrote the film with Ashok Mishra.

7. Chakda ‘Xpress

Netflix shared the behind-the-scenes clip of ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ to attract viewers. The film is the biopic of India’s legendary bowler Jhulan Goswami, who also holds the record for the highest number of wickets in women’s international cricket.

The film stars Anushka Sharma as Jhulan and is directed by Prosit Roy.

8. Qala

Directed by ‘Bulbbul’ fame Anvitta Dutta, the film stars Babil Khan, Swastika Mukherjee and Tripti Dimri. The plot of the film is unknown at the moment, but Netflix teased the audience with a song from ‘Qala’. Tripti Dimri can be seen singing the song titled ‘Phero Na Najariya’ in the teaser, which also features some behind-the-scenes footage.
