New Delhi: Alka Yagnik’s voice always made people crazy and today she is celebrating her 55th birthday. Born in a middle-class family she started learning classical music from her mother Shubha Yagnik, due to the atmosphere of music in her house and she also developed an interest in music and started working at the age of only 6.
She moved to Mumbai at the age of 10 with her mother where she met Raj Kapoor, a filmmaker where he introduced her to Laxmikant-Pyarelal as he liked her voice.
She got her first break with Satyen Bose’s Payal Ki Jhankaar in 1979 and started grabbing the limelight with evergreen hit number Ek Do Teen from the film Tezaab in 1988. Alka had also bagged the first Filmfare Best Female Playback Award.
Alka can be seen judged several singing reality shows on television. She mentioned that kids and children are the main reasons for doing reality shows and she feels comfortable working with them.
