New Delhi: The month of June will end with a bang as we are going to witness some new and great stories via movies and web series on different OTT platforms. It all started with Samantha and Manoj Bajpayee’s The Family Man Season 2 and it will end with some more good stories.

As the second lockdown came into action due to covid situations, OTT platforms took the opportunity to engage the audience with new movies and series. So here are the upcoming OTT movie and web series releases, across languages:

1. Workin’ Moms (Season 5)

Created by Catherine Reitman who also stars alongside Jessalyn Wanlim, Dani Kind, and Juno Rinaldi, “Workin’ Moms” is a Canadian television sitcom centering on a group of friends dealing with the challenges of being working mothers, the first season of which premiered on January 10, 2017.

2. Khwabon Ke Parindey

A six-part series starring Asha Negi, Mrinal Dutt, Manasi Moghe and Tushar Sharma in the lead characters, Khwabon Ke Parindey celebrates friendships, hope and rediscovery of life. The series has been shot in the scenic landscapes of Australia. The series marks the debut of Pavitra Rishta fame Asha Negi on the OTT platform, in a leading role.

3. The Silver Skates

In winter, St. Petersburg transforms into a fairy tale-like wonderland where frozen rivers and canals serve as the iced-over roads and bustle with skaters and markets. The city is home to 18-year-old Matvey who works as an ice-skating delivery boy at a local bakery. The son of a poor lamplighter, his only treasure is a pair of silver-plated skates he inherited from his father. When he is unjustly fired he joins a gang of pickpockets who work the canals, led by the revolutionary-minded Alex. Meanwhile, a high-ranking official’s daughter Alisa feels like a prisoner in her father’s mansion. She dreams of studying science which goes against her father’s conservative views on a woman’s role in society. One day their paths cross.

4. Jagame Thandhiram

A nomadic gangster finds himself caught between good and evil in a fight for a place to call home. Starring Dhanush, Aishwarya Lekshmi and James Cosmo. A powerful combination of director Karthik Subbaraj, music producer Santhosh Narayan, starring the accomplished actor Dhanush in the lead, makes Jagame Thandhiram a must-watch.

5. Sherni

An upright Forest Officer who strives for balance in a world of man-animal conflict while she also seeks her true calling in a hostile environment. The movie hints at the casual sexism, and the misogyny faced by women and how they yet emerge as fierce as a tigress. Director Amit V. Masurkar tells a tale of realism, as he did in his previous venture Newton.

6. Luca

To satisfy the entertainment hunger of all the animation-loving people, Luca, a new animated movie is finally streaming on the OTT platform. The movie ports you to an imaginary city of Portorosso. Due to the pandemic, the movie has been made to stream directly on the OTT platforms. Luca is a coming-of-age tale of two river monsters/ best friends, who are determined to experience human life at the coast. Out of all the new content on OTT platforms this weekend in India, Luca is not something you should miss.

7. Fatherhood

Starring the hilarious comic and a brilliant actor, Kevin Hart in the lead role, Fatherhood is a new comedy-drama. The movie shows the struggle of a single father and the beautiful father and daughter relationship. The movie is based on a novel titled Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love.

8. Grahan

Grahan is the period drama web series built around the 1984 riots of Bokaro, Jharkhand. Based on the novel “Chaurasi” by Satya Vyas, the series is a fictional story, set in the real events of the Indian political timeline. The Special Investigation Task head officer, finds her grandfather to be one of the main culprits of the riots. The new web series will revolve around her seeking the truth.

9. Dhoop Ki Deewar

Sara and Vishal find themselves caught in an ugly social media encounter when they lose their fathers in the age-old battle between borders. They develop a bond and navigate through their loss together.

10. Ray

From a satire to a psychological thriller, four short stories from celebrated auteur and writer Satyajit Ray are adapted for the screen in this series. Celebrating the legacy of the great author as well as a pioneer of modern Indian cinema, Satyajit Ray.

11. LOL Salaam 

Five friends en route a trip get caught in an unexpected situation when their car breaks down, and one of the friends unwittingly steps on a landmine. The comic thriller web series is on the list of anticipated OTT releases this week. Buzz started to form around for this hilarious series, after Natural Star Naani, tweeted about it.

12. Thaen

Thaen is based on the real-life incident of an economically backward husband who carried his dead wife to the cremation ground as he was unable to pay for the mortuary van. The Tamil drama movie is set in the humble backdrops of the Indian villages. Thaen has been screened at various film festivals including the Indian Panorama 2020 event in Goa.

13 LKG

LKG (an acronym for Lalgudi Karuppiah Gandhi) is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language political satire film produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the banner Vels Film International, directed by K. R. Prabhu on his directorial debut. The film stars RJ Balaji and Priya Anand while Nanjil Sampath, J. K. Rithesh, Ramkumar Ganesan, and Mayilsamy play supporting roles.

14 Jiivi

The 2019 V J Gopinath directorial, Jiivi, is a Tamil thriller drama. An underprivileged man, living his life in terms with the meager means of his life, plans for a heist and gets away with the crime. The intelligent script and an engaging screenplay make this thriller a not-to-be-missed movie. The Telugu dub of the movie will soon mark its streaming release on the OTT platform this week.
