New Delhi: Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has confirmed the third instalment of the cult classic Heri Pheri franchise. He also said that the film will be made with the same star cast involving Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. The first two instalments of the franchise, namely Heri Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri, are widely appreciated and loved by the audience.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Nadiadwala said, “You’ll get to see it very soon with the same star cast – Akshay ji, Paresh bhai and Suniel ji. The story is in place, and we are working on certain modalities. It’ll be made in the same way, retaining the innocence of the characters.” He added, “We can’t take past achievements for granted. So, we have to be extra careful in terms of our content, story, screenplay, characters, mannerisms etc.”
He also mentioned that they are looking for a director and will soon make an announcement. Heri Pheri, released in 2000, was directed by acclaimed director Priyadarshan. While Phir Hera Pheri (2006) was directed by Neeraj Vora. Both the parts are streamings on Amazon Prime Video to watch.
The story revolves around Raju, Shyam and Baburao who run after money and what follows are the funny situations they get themselves into. The franchise deals with the genres of comedy of errors and farce and is surely one of its kind. The audience has showered a lot of love for it and helped it become the cult classic we know today.
The iconic scenes and dialogues from the franchise are now part of pop culture references. Be it Baburao’s (Paresh Rawal) style of walking and talking or Raju’s (Akshay Kumar) iconic pose, these are now said to be ‘meme material’.
