‘I need to see the mirror…’: Sara Ali Khan talks about her films failing, getting trolled for visiting Mahakaleshwar temple

The actor’s films ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Simmba’ did well at the box office but her last three films ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Coolie No. 1’ and ‘Atrangi Re’ could not garner large audiences and were also not received well.

New Delhi: During a promotion interview for her upcoming film ‘Gaslight’, actor Sara Ali Khan talked about her recent films failing to get a positive response and facing trolls on the internet. In an interview with India TV, Sara told the lessons she learned from failure and how she looks at herself as an artist.

The actor’s films ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Simmba’ did well at the box office but her last three films ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Coolie No. 1’ and ‘Atrangi Re’ could not garner large audiences and were also not received well. Talking about the same, Sara said that she has taken the biggest lessons from films like ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Coolie No. 1’. She added that it is ‘not necessary to get up after falling, it is necessary to run’.

She added that she is not a comedian and is not here to please people, she sees herself as an artist. She acknowledged that she did not do well in her last two films and is not proud of her performance in ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Coolie No. 1’. The actor said that she needs to see the mirror for what it is and she does not want to be ‘loud over the top and fake.

Talking about getting trolled for visiting the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple with her mom Amrita Singh, she said can talk about her work but if someone has a problem with her doing Bhasma Aarti in Mahakal temple then that is their problem. She added that she does not care what somebody thinks about her visit and is quite thick-skinned.

Her upcoming murder mystery thriller ‘Gaslight’ also stars Vikrant Massey and Chitrangada Singh. In the film, she plays the character of the girl whose father has been murdered. ‘Gaslight’ will release on Disney+ Hotstar on March 31.
