New Delhi: According to India Today, Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has revealed that the movie 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, has been independently nominated for an Oscar.
It was verified by Vikrant Massey when he was speaking at the Sahitya AajTak 2023 event that the movie 12th Fail had been entered for the Oscars as an independent entry from India.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra has produced, written, and directed the 2023 biographical drama film 12th Fail in the Indian language of Hindi. It is based on a non-fiction book of the same name written by Anurag Pathak and published in 2019 about the real-life experience of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame tremendous poverty to become an officer in the Indian Police Service.
The film was released in theatres for the first time on October 27. The film was made available in the languages of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The audience showed the picture headlined by Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar an incredible amount of affection and appreciation, and the great response was reflected in the film’s box office collection as a result. Now, the principal actor in the film has stated that the movie has been submitted for consideration for an Oscar in 2024.

The critically acclaimed and unexpectedly successful 12th Fail made over 55 crore rupees on a budget of under 20 lakh rupees.
The film was well-received by both critics and moviegoers, earning praise from Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Rishabh Shetty, and Kamal Haasan. The film’s producers also had a lavish party after its triumph, and real-life stars Manoj Kumar Sharma and Shraddha Joshi were there.

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail is based on a real tale and depicts the hardships endured by millions of students who take the UPSC entrance test. The film features Vikrant Massey, Medha Shankar, Anant Vijay Joshi, and other notable actors in important parts. Beyond that one test, however, it serves as an inspiration to keep trying even when things don’t go as planned.
Vikrant had previously told ANI that, during filming, the picture was a very classic Vidhu Vinod Chopra flick that was grounded in harsh reality and was really impactful.
About Oscar 2024
It has been revealed by Variety that Jimmy Kimmel, recipient of an Emmy Award, will once again serve as the host for the forthcoming 2024 Oscars event. This will be the late-night star’s fourth time serving in this capacity.
The annual event honouring accomplishments in the film industry will have Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan, and Hamish Hamilton serving as executive producers this year. According to Variety, Kapoor will also serve in the capacity of showrunner.
On Sunday, March 10, 2024, the Dolby Theatre will play host to the 96th Annual Oscar ceremony.
