India shines at Grammy Awards as Shankar Mahadevan dedicates the award to friends, family & god..

New Delhi: It was the most happiest moment for India at the Grammy award function in Los Angeles. Indian Musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain won the prestigious award for Best Global Music album for their album ‘This moment’.

The singer Shankar Mahadevan thanked his friends, family and god at the acceptance speech. He said, “Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you…Last but not the least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife whom every note of my music is dedicated to.”  There was a huge loud cheer in the crowd after his speech.

About the album ‘This Moment’

The album was released in June last year.

The album features 8 songs by John Mclaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, V SelvaGanesh and Ganesh Rajagopalan. All these were nominated for the Grammy’s with other artists like Susana Baca, Bokante Burna Boy and Davido.

Legendary singer A R Rahman also congratulated the band and their team for winning the prestigious award. The singer also clicked a selfie and shared it in his social media.

Former Grammy award winner and Indian Music Composer Ricky Kej also congratulated the band. He shared a video of their acceptance speech and wrote, “SHAKTI wins a Grammy!!! Through this album 4 brilliant Indian musicians win Grammys!! Just amazing. India is shining in every direction. Shankar Mahadevan, V Selvaganesh Vinayakram, Ganesh Rajagopalan, Ustad Zakir Hussain. Ustad Zakir Hussain won a second Grammy along with virtuoso flute player Rakesh Chaurasia.
