One such memorable love story of the 1990s is of Salman Khan & Aishwarya Rai. The two powerhouses of talent had a hush-hush relationship for about 2 years but eventually parted ways. Their separation became the national news, which only came to light only after Salman Khan’s midnight drama at Aishwarya’s house.

Salman Khan is a successful Bollywood actor while Aishwarya rai is happily married to Abhishek Bachchan and the duo has a sweet daughter Aradhaya. In the 1990s, Salman and Aishwarya’s love story was the biggest Bollywood affair. Both were rising superstars and their love affair drew the interest of media as well as common public as both of them always refrained from commenting about their relationship.

It was 1998 when their love story began during the shooting of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’. This movie became blockbuster hit and still remains one of the most loved movies of Bollywood. While shooting for the movie, they fell for each other.

Salman was madly in love with Aishwarya and wanted to marry her. Aishwarya was also accepting of the relationship but reportedly wanted time before commitment to marriage. According to reports, they also had planned marriage but one day it all turned sour and both broke apart, never to return & look back.

Before love could blossom into marriage, it broke apart and rather turned into hatred. Both have never looked back and to date are not on talking terms.

The reason behind their split was Salman’s urgency for tying the knot. Salman wanted to get married to Aishwarya soon after the success of movie. But, the actress wanted some time before settling down as she was just starting off and getting good roles.

She turned down Salman’s marriage proposal, which made the latter angry & also insecure about their relationship.

The famed mid-night drama by Salman at Aishwarya’s residence is no secret. According to eyewitnesses, the actor kept banging on the door for 2 hours. Salman was reportedly drunk and created a huge uproar outside her home.

After creating huge drama at Aishwaya’s apartment, he reportedly left the building at around 3 am that night. Some reports say that Salman’s hands started bleeding as he kept knocking the door and in the process hurt himself.

Salman also threatened to jump from the building if she didn’t open the door. It was only then Aishwarya opened the door for a brief moment.

There were many speculations about reason for their break-up but the secret is best kept to them. Years later, Aishwarya reportedly said in an interview that Salman misbehaved with her father and was disrespectful towards her parents, which eventually led to her snapping ties & bond with the superstar.

Later in an interview, Salman accepted his mistake. He said that he should have not misbehaved with actress father but also added, “We fight with those persons only, whom we love. How can I can start fighting with a stranger.”

Some other uncomfortable revelations also came out after the iconic couple chose to call it quits. It is said that Aishwarya accepted at some press meet that Salman used to beat her.
