New Delhi: Superstar Rajnikanth’s latest release Jailer has wreaked mayhem at the Box office on its very first day.
On its opening day itself, the mega movie is having a historic run at the theatres and the early estimates are telling the same.
Considering the movie’s enormous buzz, Rajni’s unmatched stardom, and the rave reviews it has received from moviegoers as well as critics, industry trackers are expecting Jailer to open with a mammoth Day 1 collection of Rs 49-50 crores (Gross).

Breaking down the movie’s state-wise figures, we find that the Rajnikant starrer’s Tamil version opened with a terrific 71% occupancy in the morning shows which means that the movie might garner anything around Rs 20- 25 crores from Tamil Nadu alone. The magnum opus’s Telugu version is also doing well in Andhra Pradesh with 61% morning occupancy and is expected to bring in an impressive sum of Rs 11 crore from the state. Jailor is also expected to collect a record Rs 7 crores from the state of Karnataka.
However, the early estimates also suggest that South India’s untamable monster is going to underperform in the Hindi belt as two much-awaited Bollywood movies (Gadar 2 and OMG2) will start to dominate the northern markers by tomorrow.
Earlier, ticket aggregator Bookmyshow reported that Nelson Dilip Kumar’s directorial has already sold 9,00,000 tickets out of which, more than 70 per cent of the sale was made in the Southern Regions of the country.
As per film Exhibiters Akshay Rathi’s statement to Indian Express, Jailer is an absolute storm in the Tamil-speaking belt. He even said that the movie’s buzz amongst the fans is so exceptional and extraordinary, that it might very well become one of the highest opening Tamil movies of all time.
