John Wick 4 review: Keanu Reeves hit-man salvage action movies without defying physics

John Wick 4 is a wrap-up, a conclusion for the previous three. An orphan taken by a crime syndicate is raised as a dexterous assassin. After incessant violent adventures, John wick is trying his best to escape the dark underbelly and live a life more ordinary.

New Delhi: Has there ever been a franchise where 4th part is being hailed as the best one in unison? Or has there been a 30 minutes long action sequence with no dreary moments? An excellent actioner that doesn’t defies laws of physics?

Chad Stahelski makes it all possible with John Wick 4.

John Wick 4 is a wrap-up, a conclusion for the previous three. An orphan taken by a crime syndicate is raised as a dexterous assassin. After incessant violent adventures, John wick is trying his best to escape the dark underbelly and live a life more ordinary. The 4th instalment perfectly touches upon his complicated past of John; the death of his wife, betrayal by his close ones and the murder of his canine friend.

Chapter 3: Parabellum ended with a massive cliffhanger when Winston shot John, making him fall into a 100 feet pit.

John Wick Chapter 4 ties all loose ends

Now that the high table is hell-bent to get John, there are no moments to blink. However, this only stands true for the viewers. For Wick, he is still so calculating and conscious, a stone-cold killer with complex layers of vulnerability. Portraying an assassin so in touch with his humanity, Keanu Reeves has once again proven his mark. From the lines he utters to the punches he throws, it’s all personal for Wick.

Bill Skarsgard has entered the realm of playing the perfect (most hated) antagonist against Keanu Reeves. Among all new foes, Bill Skarsgard’s De Gramount is a haughty, young leader of the bad guys.

The storytelling is done so well that Bill’s character contrasts Keanu’s without taking away the limelight. One is a man of his word while the other bends and breaks the assassin code to his convenience.

The action thriller can be, surprisingly, defined by the word ‘beautiful.’ From the faces to the camerawork, it’s just surreal.

With Choreography, stunt work, background score and everything else, John Wick 4 is inarguable, the best in its universe.
