New Delhi: Bejoy Nambiar, the mind behind the Disney+ Hotstar original film Kaala, is well-known for his unconventional takes on the crime drama and action thriller genres.
Kaala, starring Avinash Tiwary, Rohan Vinod Mehra, and others, has been given a U/A rating by India’s centralised film rating body.
The criminal drama series Kaala tackles the topic of reverse hawala, in which money is returned to its original source, often by way of a new broker. The trailer features a group of intelligence officials, set to an upbeat and exhilarating tune, as they investigate allegations that Naman is engaged in unlawful money operations.
Disney + Hotstar owns the digital rights to the Avinash Tiwary-starring show, and it has begun its digital premiere on the service. Starting today, 15 September 2023, the series is now available to the public.

Storyline
Avinash plays the role of an intelligence officer Ritwik in this Bejoy Nambiar serial, and his mission is to prevent local businessman Naman Arya from shipping 14 trillion money. But as he goes more into the process, he is set up as a criminal himself, despite his resolve to thwart Naman Arya’s attempts.
As a result, he risks being branded a criminal, which might have serious consequences for his personal and professional life. The series follows his exploits as he navigates this kind of high-stakes action, adventure, and criminality.

Kaala Review: As an idea on paper, Kaala has all the drama required but the on-screen translation goes haywire

Not very often you have two different shows dropping on two different platforms at the same time, both featuring the same three solid actors in prominent roles. Avinash Tiwary, Saurabh Sachdev and Jitin Gulati all star in Bambai Meri Jaan and Kaala this week. pic.twitter.com/wEpeMREpcd

While another user wrote, “Kaala is damn near unwatchable. My only takeaway across the two Hindi shows this week is actor Jitin Gulati, who is a thousand times better than the terribly-written roles he commits to.”
