Karan Johar hints at Akshay-Twinkle inspiration for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Karan Johar mentioned that he may have been subconsciously inspired by the dynamic between Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna for the lead characters in his latest directorial project.

New Delhi: Karan Johar’s movie “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” was a huge success, captivating fans everywhere. Featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office. In a recent interview, Karan Johar surprised everyone by suggesting that he might have subconsciously taken inspiration from a well-known Bollywood power couple for the storyline. This revelation adds an intriguing twist to the film’s narrative.

Karan Johar’s Statement

During a recent interview with Mid-Day, director Karan Johar mentioned that he may have been subconsciously inspired by the dynamic between Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna for the lead characters in his latest directorial project. Karan acknowledged the strong friendship within Akshay and Twinkle’s marriage, the shared humor they find in each other, and the comfort they have in their camaraderie. This sparked the idea that people from different backgrounds can also find love and connect despite societal divisions. Karan emphasized that love can occur unexpectedly and defy the boxes we often confine ourselves to when seeking relationships.

Before the trailer launch, Karan Johar had a live session on Instagram where he disclosed that the main characters, Rocky and Rani, in the film were inspired by real individuals. He mentioned that Rocky’s character was influenced by someone he couldn’t reveal at the moment. As for Rani, she was molded after various people Karan has encountered, including a media person who dressed similarly to Rani’s style.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna began their relationship during the filming of the action movie “International Khiladi” in 1999. They tied the knot in 2001 and have two children, Aarav and Nitara. Karan Johar, who attended the same boarding school as Twinkle during childhood, wrote a character named Tina in his film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” with her in mind, but she declined the role, which was eventually played by Rani Mukerji. Akshay has collaborated with Karan’s production house, Dharma Productions, in several films. The couple also appeared together on an episode of Karan’s talk show, “Koffee with Karan” Season 5.
