New Delhi: Following its not-so-successful journey at the Box office, Dulquer Salmaan’s Malayalam actioner King of Kotha is now all geared up to try its luck with the OTT audience by making its digital debut in the following week.
Helmed by talented director Abhilash Joshiy, the movie made it to the big screens on August 24 and garnered love and praise from the moviegoers. Despite getting mixed reviews from the public, the movie’s buzz remained high and it continued to get appreciation for its massy action-packed scenes combined with the captivating acting of Superstar Dulquer Salmaan.
However, due to its head-on clash with RDX: Robert Dony Xavier and Nivin Pauly’s Ramachandra Boss & Co, King of Kotha failed to maintain its momentum at the BO and was only able to mint a below-average sum of ₹ 38 crore by the end of its theatrical run.

Digital Gaint Disney+ Hotstar has purchased the digital rights of King of Kotha and will be making the film available for streaming on their platform from 22 September. Notably, only the users having a basic subscription will be able to enjoy the film on the said platform.
King Of Kotha Story
The movie, picturised in an imaginary village of Kotha, centres around the life of a local gangster (Raju) who is one of the most popular and influential figures in his town. However, an unfortunate turn of events soon causes Raju’s downfall and his powers decline significantly. Determined to regain what he has lost, Raju makes a comeback after years with the aim of reclaiming his lost throne and becoming King of Kotha once again.
Except for charming the audience with Dulquer’s massy and charismatic portrayal of Raju, the film also offers a good dose of emotional drama that includes relationships, friendship, family bonding and Romance.

The film in its stellar cast features Aishwarya Lekshmi as the lead actress against Dulquer Salmaan. Other than that, it also features Shabeer Kallarakkal, Gokul Suresh, S Prasanna, Nyla Usha, Shammi Thilakan, Chemban and Vinod Jose in supporting roles. It is Jointly produced by Dulqeur’s own production house Wayfarer Films in collaboration with Zee Studios on a big budget of ₹ 49 crore.
Nimish Ravi has taken care of the film’s Cinematography while Jakes Bejoy has been in charge of its music tracks which also include Ritkia Singh’s iconic item number Kalpakkara.
