New Delhi: Rohit and Jaadoo are making a comeback to the big screen! Koi Mil Gaya, India’s first sci-fi film featuring a lovable alien character, is celebrating its 20th anniversary since its release on August 8. To celebrate this special occasion, the creators along with PVR INOX have decided to re-release the movie, starring Hrithik Roshan, Rekha, and Preity Zinta, in 30 cities including Delhi and Mumbai on August 4.
Rakesh Roshan on Koi Mil Gaya Re Release
The aim Is to celebrate the timeless classic and allow viewers to relive the enchantment on the big screen once again. Director Rakesh Roshan is overjoyed with this opportunity. During an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, the director officially announced the re-release plans for Koi Mil Gaya. He revealed, “PVR Inox approached us to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the film.” I was thrilled with the idea, so we decided together to re-release the movie on August 4th in 30 cities across India. Our main objective is to bring back the nostalgic charm of the film and showcase it In PVR Inox theaters. We hope this re-release becomes a family outing, where parents can introduce the new generation to Jaadoo while reliving their own memories of watching the film 20 years ago.”
He further noted the surreal experience of receiving love for the film even after two decades. The director shared that their intention with Koi Mil Gaya was to create a family-friendly movie that would bring joy to both children and their parents.
Introducing a sci-fi concept with an alien was a risk, but the overwhelming response from the audience was the ultimate reward. It was gratifying and reinforced my belief as a filmmaker to continue making films in different genres, with diverse storylines, and continue experimenting,” he shared.
