Love Story to Jai Bhim: Latest South Indian movies arriving on OTTs soon

New Delhi: In the past, we have seen the amount of praise and recognition that films from down south have earned after they were premiered digitally. Super Deluxe, Kumbalangi Nights and Karnan are examples of when streaming platforms introduced the rich regional content with rest of the country, and how viewers across the states garnered the unique content despite the language barrier.

Amid the rise of South-Indian cinema and their immense popularity among Hindi speaking audiences, a new slate of big-budget and star-studded films is lined up to arrive on major OTT platforms.

Latest South Indian films arriving on OTTs in the fourth quarter of year 2021: 

1. Love Story

Director: Sekhar Kammula

Starring: Sai Pallavi, Naga Chaitanya

Platform: Aha

Releasing Date: October 22

Helmed by filmaker Sekhar Kammula, Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer Love Story revolves around Revanth and Mounica, who happens to be  neighbors in the Hyderabad city. The two also belongs to the same town, Armoor. The two share a common passion for dance that eventually brings them closer. The film was critically acclaimed following its theatrical release and makers expect the same with its digital streaming.

2. Rathnan Prapancha

Director: Rohit Padaki

Starring: Dhananjay, Reba Monica John, Umashree 

Platform: Amazon Prime Video

Releasing Date: October 22

Rathnan Prapancha is a Travel Dramedy that tells the tale of Ratnakara, an average middle class guy in his late twenties. Unlike his peers who’re already settled and are exploring other avenues in their lives, he’s stuck in a house with an unwanted companion; his mother, Saroja. Just when things couldn’t get any worse Ratnakara gets a phone call that turns his life upside down.

3. Jai Bhim

Director: Tj Gnanavel

Starring: Suriya, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Rajisha Vijayan

Platform: Amazon Prime Video

The plot of the film tells the viewers about the innocent and hardworking lives of an oppressed tribe who, even with no land to call their own nor a strong roof over their heads, find joy in simple things in life. However, as social injustice and brutality sweeps these innocent lives, advocate Chandru, beautifully portrayed by Suriya, battles for human rights.

4. MGR Magan

Starring: Sasikumar, Sathyaraj

Platform: Disney+Hotstar

Releasing Date: November 4

The film revolves around a father (Sathyaraj) and a son (Sasikumar) who are not in talking terms with each other due to a small family issues. The story of their reunion after various efforts is the crux of the movie.
