New Delhi: Tollywood filmmaker Charan Tej Uppalapati makes his Bollywood debut with the action-packed film “Maharagni,” a pan-India project featuring Kajol and Prabhu Dheva in the lead roles.
The supporting cast includes Samyuktha Menon, Naseerudin Shah, Jishu Sen Gupta, and Adithya Seal. Produced by E7 Entertainment and Baweja Studios, “Maharagni” is set to deliver an exhilarating cinematic experience, combining intense drama, deep emotions, and high-octane action sequences.

Filming for the first part of “Maharagni” concluded in early May 2024. To mark this , the filmmakers released a one-minute and thirty-seven-second preview teaser video. The clip features Prabhu Deva in a dramatic chase on a runway wielding a baseball bat, and Kajol in a fierce battle at a Durga festival with a sword. The video has garnered over 5 million views on YouTube.
In the movie, Kajol is set to portray Maya, a character who was raised in Mumbai’s largest slum and later rises to become the most influential woman in Maharashtra. The film’s primary focus is on the deep affection children have for their parents, and the story endeavors to convey this sentiment.

Samyuktha shared an update on Maharagni with News18 Showsha, stating, “The shooting has been done in parts. A schedule was completed which included Kajol ma’am’s major action sequences. Another schedule covering my introduction and some car chase scenes with me has also been finished. It was an amazing experience! They brought in an international action director and the way they organized everything was fantastic. I feel extremely thankful.”
Even though 95 percent of the film shoot is yet to be completed, Samyuktha is excited that she has already had the chance to shoot some scenes with Kajol and Naseeruddin Shah. Did she feel anxious about it? ” If your co-stars are cool, good to talk to, and ready to strike up conversations, it’s always nice. We had a photo shoot with all three of us and it was really fun!” she explains.
The film is billed as a high-budget action-thriller scheduled for release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, in addition to Hindi. There is currently no official announcement regarding the film’s release date but is anticipated to be released in late 2024.
