“Maharaja” becomes No.1 on Netflix : Vijay Sethupati’s must-watch action-thriller movie

New Delhi: Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan , starring famous actor and film producer Vijay Sethupati  , ”Maharaja“ received praise and successfully streamed on Netflix at No. 1 in India. Marking this as Sethupati’s  50^th film and emerging as the best opening for a Tamil film. The film has earned over ₹100 crores in 10 days . This captivating Tamil revenge saga has become box office triumph and is being largely acknowledged.

Streaming and Plot

“Maharaja”released worldwide on 12 July 2024 , premiering on OTT Platform Netflix is available in five languages . The  gripping and high-octane thriller follows the story of Maharaja, a barber in Pallikaranai, Chennai, faces tragedy when a truck crashes into his house, killing his wife, while his daughter Jothi survives, protected by a dustbin they later name “Lakshmi.” After moving to a new home with Jothi, Maharaja reports the theft of Lakshmi to the police, promising a ₹5 lakh bribe to investigate, despite their initial reluctance. The police enlist ex-convict Nallasivam to help track down the robbers . The quest of finding his elusive “lakshmi” unfolds as he portrays his willingness to go to extreme extents to find it. Through Maharaja’s search for Lakshmi the film becomes a searing indictment of an oppressive system which works not in favour, but against its most disenfranchised subjects

Cinematography and more

With exceptional performances by Vijay Sethupathi as Maharaja  and Anurag Kashyap as Selvam , the film’s dynamic and captivating cinematography meticulously done by Dinesh Purushothaman is visually enthralling and adds to the exceptional editing by Philomin Raj.The evocative music score by B. Ajaneesh Loknath imbued the audience and infused a strong emotional quality within them.The action sequences are consistently intricate, yet they retain a rough quality.
