Mohanlal made his acting debut with a Malayalam film ‘Thiranottam’ in 1978, unfortunately the film’s release got delayed due to censorship issues. He started doing negative roles and gradually made his impact in the Malayalam film industry. He has also worked in some of the Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil films.

Mohanlal’s early life
He was born in Elanthoor in Kerala on 21st May 1960. His father was a former Bureaucrat and Law Secretary with the Kerala Government. He studied in a Government Boys Higher Secondary school and attained Commerce degree from Mahatma Gandhi College. He was also the Kerala State Wrestling Champion during 1977 and 1978.

He has also worked in a lot of plays before entering into films. He is also a Goodwill ambassador for the government and has been associated with many humanitarian causes. He has worked in a lot of short videos for promoting AIDS and Cancer Awareness. Apart from acting he is also linked with many commercial brands like Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Tata Global Beverages, LG Electronics. He is also a part of many business ventures and film production and distribution.
