The website, which is widely known for featuring inspiring tales from Mumbaikar’s lives, has over 2.7 million followers on Instagram while its Facebook following stands at an impressive 1.4 million.

Humans of Bombay
Humans of Bombay is a Mumbai-based storytelling website which is inspired by Brandon Staton’s well-known Humans of New York. The page serves as a platform for Mumbai’s citizens, merchants and celebrities who use it as a medium to share their tales of success and struggle with the masses.
The website first emerged as a Facebook page back in 2014 and is now making headlines after the founder of Humans of New York recently showcased his disappointment with its decision to initiate a legal proceeding against a similar website “People of India” for allegedly stealing their idea.
Voicing his anger on Karishma’s company, the 39-year-old founder took to his Twitter and wrote, “I have stayed quiet on the appropriation of my work because I think Humans of Bombay shares impact stories, even if they have monetized far past anything I would feel comfortable doing on HONY. But you can’t be suing people for what I have forgiven you for”
Humans of Bombay’s rise to fame
Ever since Karishma took her first interview, Humans of Bombay started gaining a lot of popularity and soon expanded itself into one of the most popular websites in the country.
In 2016, Karishma, while trying to raise funds to support Humans of Bombay, launched her first self-published book with the same name. The book was a compilation of her posts on HOB and also included some exclusive unpublished posts.

In the series, the 31-year-old writer conducted interviews with numerous successful individuals from different fields who opened up about their journey to success and the hardships they faced during their days of struggle.
Who is Karishma Mehta?
Karishma Mehta, who hails from the bustling city of Mumbai, is a TEDx presenter, writer, and ace photographer.
Raised in her hometown Mumbai, Karishma completed her school-level education at Bombay Scottish school following which, she got herself enrolled in a boarding school in Bangalore for the next two years. She then kickstarted her college life by attending a college in the United Kingdom where she spent three years of her life mastering the fields of economics and business.
After completing her studies, Karishma finally stepped into her professor life as a freelance writer and worked for numerous publication houses including the National Geographic Channel. Later, she became a TEDx expert and delivered speeches at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) on various occasions.
