New Delhi: Alia Bhatt headed to Instagram after her Met Gala appearance in a lovely white pearl-embellished Prabal Gurung gown to discuss the inspiration for her gorgeous ensemble. It was, of course, in honor of Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion legend whose Met Gala 2023 was themed. The actress, on the other hand, disclosed the India connection to her billowing bridal gown, which was made with 1 lakh pearls.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel bride’s look. Season after season, Karl Lagerfeld’s inventiveness shone through in an assortment of creative and awe-inspiring couture. My look tonight was inspired by this, specifically supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look,” she shared a lovely collection of images from the event on Instagram.
“I wanted to create something authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India.” Prabal Gurung’s needlework, crafted with 100,000 pearls, is a labor of love. “I’m so excited to wear you to my first Met Gala,” she continued.

Alia wrote, “A girl can never have too many pearls…. and the right accessories to complement the look, which in our case translated to the bow of pearls on my hair.”
Thats it? No wait, wait. There’s more to it. While ending the caption, Alia also mentioned her own pet cat Edward and designer Karl Lagerfeld’s famed pet cat Choupette, while adding that the white hue of her costume was for her own “Choup-ED.”
“Oh, and it’s white, for my Choup-ED,” she explained. Isn’t it lovely?
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York hosts the Met Gala on the first Monday of May. This year’s attendees include Priyanka Chopra, Natasha Poonawalla, and Isha Ambani, in addition to Alia Bhatt.
Alia Bhatt will make her Hollywood debut in the upcoming film Heart Of Stone, with Gal Gadot. The actress will also appear in Jee Le Zaraa alongside Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, as well as Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani alongside Ranveer Singh. Dharmaendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi will also appear in the movie.
