Miss Universe 2021: Harnaaz’s family elated in Punjab, looks forward to a grand welcome

New Delhi: Nothing makes you more proud than seeing your children achieve their dreams. On Monday, the 21-year-old Harnaaz Sandhu made her family as well as the entire country proud by nabbing the Miss Universe 2021 title in Eilat, Israel.

In a conversation with news agency ANI, Harnaaz’s brother Harnoor Sandhu and mother Ruby Sandhu expressed their joy and informed that they are planning a grand welcome for her. “Dhoom dhaam se hum Harnaaz ka swagat karenge. (We will welcome her in grand style). She deserves it. We all are proud of her. When she called us after winning the pageant, we all started crying. It was an emotional moment for all of us. With her win, she has inspired millions of girls out there”.

Harnaaz’s mother further said, “I don’t know how to express my feelings. She made the whole Sandhu family proud. She is a determined girl. She has been active and confident since childhood. Today, her dream got fulfilled. I could not thank God enough”.

Meanwhile, the diva post to her international win spoke about her experience of winning the crown as well as her future plans.

The Indian beauty who defeated contestants from 79 countries to bring the title home said in conversation with ANI, “I cried because finally after 21 years India was getting the crown and I was just filled with so many emotions that I had to get it out and I couldn’t stop myself”.

Speaking of her future plans, she said, “Everything takes time, it’s all about working hard and I would love to be part of Bollywood and Hollywood. I am looking forward to that along with talking about the issues and differences in society which, I think we all need to focus on.”

Harnaaz has already been featured in upcoming Punjabi films ‘Yaara Diyan Poo Baran’ and ‘Bai Ji Kuttange’, scheduled to be released in 2022.
