New Delhi: Following a series of controversies and a month-long tussle with the censor board, Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited OMG 2 finally made it to the theatres yesterday.
Despite its clash with Sunny Doel’s heavyweight Gadar 2, the movie rose to the challenges and minted a decent amount of Rs 10.30 crore on its first Day.
Although the movie lagged way behind Gadar 2 and Jailer in terms of box office collection, it received stellar reviews from the critics as well as the moviegoers who lauded the movie for courageously attempting to address several important social issues which are considered taboo in the Indian society.
Considering the appreciation and positive word of mouth OMG received from the fans on its opening day itself, it is now being estimated that the same will help the Pankaj Tripathi starrer in spiking up its collection in the upcoming days.
OMG 2 Day 2 collection
After having a relatively sluggish start at the box office on its first day, Akshay’s movie showed significant growth today and its increased morning and afternoon occupancy tells us the same.
While yesterday the movie’s morning shows recorded a mediocre 18 % occupancy, today the number rose by 10 % taking the occupancy all the way up to 28%. Talking about OMG 2’s afternoon shows, the movie recorded almost similar afternoon occupancy of around 53- 54% on both Friday and Saturday.
However, due to the weekend effect, the movie’s evening and night shows occupancy is expected to be much more than yesterday and for the same reason, OMG looks all set to witness a 40-44 % growth in’s collection and can clock anything between 15-16 crore (Gross) on its second day. If it happens, OMG 2’s gross collection for 2 days will stand at 26.50 crore.
About OMG 2
Helmed by talented director Aitl Rai, OMG 2 is a sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2012’s super hit movie OMG. Its story centres around the life of a hardcore Shiva devotee Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi) who files a lawsuit against the country’s education system in order to seek justice for his ill-treated son.
As difficulties start to break him down and make his journey to justice harder and harder, Lord Shiva sends his messenger (Akshay Kumar) to earth to aid his troubled devotee and guide him to overcome difficulties and challenges with the power of self-belief, devotion and faith.
In the movie, Yami Gautam plays the character of a Lawyer while Govind Namdev and Arun Govil playing as are seen playing other pivotal roles.
