That’s the reason, OTT platforms have series of web-series and movies lined up for the audience. This month was packed with OTT releases and so is the last weekend of month.
Here are 5 scintillating movies that are set to release on OTT platforms, this weekend.
1. Engineering Girls 2.0
Engineering Girls 2.0 is a web-series, capturing the journey of girls through male-dominated engineering college, on celluloid.
Youtuber Sejal Kumar, Barkha Singh and Kritika Avasthi are playing the lead role in the show. This web-series released on OTT platform Zee 5 on August 27. It is a continuation of the web-series and its 1st versions was released in 2018.
2. The Empire
As the name suggests, The Empire has captured the rise and fall of Mughal Era through its generation starting from Babur to Aurangzeb. This series comes at a time amid the raging debate on Mughal Empire’s decimation vs nation-building role.
The web-series is based on Alex Rutherford’s novel – Empire of the Moghul. Shabana Azmi is one of the main protagonist of the show and had an amazing time in playing a historical character. The show released on Disney+ Hotstar on 27 August.
3. Kasada Tabara
Kasada Tabara, the Tamil language flick is a thought-provoking web-series, aimed at narrating the ‘Tales of South Madras’. The film has 6 parts, with each part being carefully put together by 6 editors, music directors and directors of photography.
4. Thimmarusu
Thimmarusu is a Telugu thriller, whose story revolves around the crusade against corruption. Satyadev playing the lead role in the flick makes for a powerful watch as he wages battle against corruption. The film has been directed by Sharan Koppishetty and features Priyanka Jawalkar in the female lead role.
This will premiere on Netflix on August 28.
5. SR Kalyanamandapam
It’s a Telugu romantic film, set up in the backdrop of 1970s era romance. The movie stars Kiran Abbavaram and Priyanka Jawalkar in lead roles and is set to Telugu OTT platform Aha on Aug 28.
