New Delhi: Corona induced Lockdown was a tough time for movie buffs but OTT platforms came as a huge relief for them. With theatres shut, much awaited big budget films are now being premiered on these digital platforms. On OTT platforms like Amazon, ZEE5, Netflix, movie lovers can watch the web release of their choice in the comfort of their house. And, plethora of options have only made movie watching at home, more pleasant experience.
Some amazing movies such as ‘Malik’ and ‘Sherni’ were released on OTTs recently and were acclaimed by viewers and critics both. Though, Bollywood fans were a little disappointed when two highly lavished and multi starrer films –Radhe and Hungama 2 plummed to the grounds in the term of content and ratings.
This week we have 8 fresh Movies and web-series in different generes, all set to be dropped straight to the various OTT platforms:
1) Lihaaf (Short film on Voot Select, July 31)
Cast: Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sonal Sehgal, Virendra Saxena
Direction: Rahat Kazmi
The film is based on one of the most celebrated masterpieces of author Ismat Chughtai “Lihaaf”. The film will throw light on the same-sex love and freedom of speech for women, in a male-dominated society.

2) Mimi (film on Netflix, July 30)
Cast: Kriti Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi, Supriya Pathak
Direction: Laxman Utekar
This comedy-drama film is about a young woman who decides to be a surrogate for an American couple and has to face opposition from society for it. The film is a remake of the National Award-winning Marathi film “Mala Aai Vhhaychy”.

The short film’s plot is about a mother educating her young son about gender equality. A story framed within a story where a mother notices her young, school-going son Sonu gravitating towards misogyny and disregard for the other gender just like the men in her family.
