Pushpa actress Rashmika Mandanna’s Deepfake video goes viral, Amitabh Bachchan reacts

Rashmika Mandanna will co-star alongside Allu Arjun in his much-awaited upcoming action-drama Pushpa: The Rule

New Delhi: Deepfake or face morphing is one of the most rapidly developing fields of Artificial intelligence (AI). The advanced technology not only lets one tweak or alter voices but also allows them to completely change someone’s physical appearance and make them look like a different person.

However, the technology is often used by cybercriminals to harass people and spread fake information about them. This recently surfacing video of Rashmika Mandanna is a good example of that.

The video:

In the viral video, that has lately stormed the entire social media,  a woman with Rashmika’s face is seen boarding an elevator wearing a skin-tight fitted dress.

The clip looks convincing enough for one to believe that the girl seen in it is actually Rashmika Mandana but that’s not the case here. This viral video is digitally manipulated and on a careful inspection, one can notice that the person in the deceptive video is not Rashmika Mandanna but some other girl with Rashmika’s facial image attached to her body with the help of AI.

Clarifying the same, journalist Abhishek Kumar came forward on Twitter (Now X) and informed that the video was not genuine. He wrote “There is an urgent need for a legal and regulatory framework to deal with deepfake in India. You might have seen this viral video of actress Rashmika Mandanna on Instagram. But wait, this is a deepfake video of Zara Patel.”

He then also shared the original video and wrote, “The original video is of Zara Patel, a British-Indian girl with 415K followers on Instagram. She uploaded this video on Instagram on 9 October.”

Bollywood’s old hand Amitshah Bacchan also raised his concerns over Rashmika’s fake viral video and urged for legal action against the culprit. Taking to the microblogging site X, the Don actor wrote, “Yes this is a strong case for legal.” It is important to note that so far, neither Zara Patel nor Rashmika have said anything about their morphed video.

What’s next for Amitabh Bachchan?

The actor, who is currently busy hosting India’s popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, has several films in his pipeline. He will first feature in Prabhas’  Magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD. Following that, Bollywood’s Big B will share the screen with his old friend Rajnikanth after 33 years in TJ Ghanavel’s  Thalapathy 170. Reports also suggest that the duo have already started to work on the project as they were spotted filming a few scenes of the movie in Mumbai.

On the other hand, renowned South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna will co-star alongside Allu Arjun in his much-awaited action-drama Pushpa: The Rule. The movie will hit the big screens next year on Independence Day.
