Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani BO: Karan Johar’s film minted 11.5 crores, lags behind Day 1 collection of Oppenheimer

New Delhi: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ has finally released this Friday ( 28 July 2023). The much-anticipated family drama has gained positive reviews from viewers and managed to earn a decent amount on Day 1 of its release. The film minted an amount of 11.50 crore on Friday as per the trade portal Sacnilk.

Rocky Aur Raani Ki Prem Kahaani marks the collaboration of  Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt after their successful pairing with  Zoya Akhtar’s backed Gully Boy in 2019. The film features various veteran actors including Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and  Shabana Azmi. The film was promoted extensively by the makers in the past few days but still laged behind  Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer which minted 14.5 crore on its opening day( 21 July 2023) at Indian Box Office.

So far the opening day collection of Hindi films is concerned Karan Johar’s directorial is the fifth-highest opener of the year. The other top four positions are occupied by Pathan( 57 crores), Adipurush( 37 crores), Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan(15.81 crores) and Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkaar( 15.73 crores) as per Bollywood Hungama report. The film started with an occupancy of 12% during the morning shows but subsequently increased in the afternoon by 15.80% occupancy and 36.85%  occupancy for the night shows.

However, the film has received a positive response not only from the fans but also from the various known faces from the film Industry. Appreciating the film, renowned filmmaker and writer Jave Akhtar wrote, It is one of the most entertaining films he has watched in recent years.

Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga also expressed her views and said, Rocky Aur Rani is just Briiliant and it has been truly a long time since I have laughed so hard.
