New Delhi: In only three days, Karan Johar’s newest love flick, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, soared to its greatest box office earnings ever. According to Sacnilk, the film’s Sunday earnings increased by about 15-20 per cent from its Saturday sales of Rs 16 crores, going into overdrive and netting an estimated Rs 19 crores.

Pinkvilla reports that the film did well over the weekend abroad as well, earning $4.20 million (about Rs. 34.50 crores). The film made around Rs. 87 crores in its first weekend throughout the globe, with India accounting for approximately Rs. 52.50 crores.

Over the weekend, the film made almost $1.70 million in North America. The Middle East brought in an estimated $1.10 million, while the UK earned £360K during the weekend and has a shot at breaking the £1 million mark by the conclusion of its run.

The film may have benefited from more aggressive promotion in several territories, where attendance was higher than the box office numbers would indicate. Because of this encouraging development, the film now has a good shot of being one of the few Bollywood films in recent memory to gross over $10 million throughout its theatrical run.
About the Movie
The movie features Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Jaya Bachchan, and it was directed by Karan Johar and produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios. The film follows the blossoming romance between Rocky, a Punjabi, and Rani, a smart Bengali journalist. Despite their differences, they find themselves completely in love with one another. They face resistance from members of their own families.
