Sara Ali Khan starrer thriller ‘Gaslight’ shot in 36 days, says director Pavan Kirpalani

Kirpalani said that he shot ‘Gaslight’ in 36 days and can safely state that he shoots a film within controlled budgets and tight schedules.

New Delhi: Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey and Chitrangada Singh will be seen together in the upcoming mystery thriller ‘Gaslight’. Director Pavan Kirpalani in a press statement revealed that the film was shot just in 36 days. The film was shot at Wankaner Palace in Gujarat and will get a digital release directly.

Kirpalani said that he shot ‘Gaslight’ in 36 days and can safely state that he shoots a film within controlled budgets and tight schedules. The director added that it was easier to shoot with limited locations and detailed preparations.

On the experience of working with Sara, Chitrangada and Vikrant, the filmmaker said that he spent a month doing workshops with the actors and they created a sense of mystery which was required in the film.

Talking about her experience, Sara Ali Khan said on the trailer launch that her character is ‘layered and nuanced’ and hopes that the audience will enjoy the edge-of-the-seat thriller. She described ‘Gaslight’ as a ‘classic whodunit set in an eerie yet beautiful palatial estate’.

The makers recently released the trailer of the film, which showed Sara’s character returning home and finding that her father has been murdered. The film is a murder mystery thriller with multiple suspects and a sense of horror.

‘Gaslight’ will release on Disney+ Hotstar on March 31 and also features Akshay Oberoi and Rahul Dev. The movie is produced by Ramesh Taurani.

Pavan Kirpalani has directed horror films in ‘Ragini MMS’, ‘Darr @ the Mall’ and ‘Phobia’, while his last venture was ‘Bhoot Police’.
