New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan have been served legal notice by the Allahabad court for endorsing Gutka Company advertisements. The Centre’s counsel mentioned to the court that the same matter is being heard in the Top Court as well so the current petition should be dismissed. The next hearing is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2024.
A bench of judges had earlier directed the Central Government to take action against the senior and famous actors of the film industry who have won many awards and advertising for the Gutka companies. This representation was made on October 22nd but no action was taken into the matter. After this the high court issued notice to the cabinet secretary of the Central Government.
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan also sent a legal notice to one of the Gutka Companies which was showing his advertisement despite the actor has cancelled the contract. The court observed that such senior public figures shall not endorse things like these which is a hazard for the health of the comman man. The common man follows these film personalities and choses to use the brands endorsed by them.

This famous Bollywood actor has been associated with the Pan Masala brand. The actor apologized to his fans and broke his contract with the Gutka company and decided not to promote Pan Masala in future.
Ranveer Singh
Apart from Akshay Kumar, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has also faced ire of his fans for promoting Pan Masala brand. The actor later clarified that he wasn’t aware that the ad fell under the blanket of surrogate advertising. He later apologized and returned the money which he received for the promotion.
Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood king Amitabh Bachchan also came under fire for endorsing a Pan Masala brand. The actor later disassociate himself from the company and decided not to endorse Gutka brands in future.
Pierce Brosnan
The James Bond actor faced criticism from his fans for promoting Pan Masala brand. The actor clarified that the company cheated him by not telling him the harmful effects of the product.
