Shark Tank India 2, a scripted drama? Reality show faces ire of netizens for hosting actress

As the video clips of episodes surfaced, it received criticism & brickbats from umpteen netizens. Many called the show a scripted drama while others saw it as open platform to ‘befool’ viewers while generating profits at their expense.

New Delhi: Shark Tank India Season 2 found itself at the receiving end for hosting an actress on the reality show. A lot many people took potshots at the reality show and questioned the rationale & logic behind inviting an established person for business pitch & also seeking deals from the Sharks.

A couple of users trolled the Shark Tank India Season 2 for hosting the actress Parul Gulati in its last episode, aired on March 10. Parul presented her business idea on hair extensions and also elaborated before the judges, on how she wishes to reach out to the youths while encouraging them to use her product not just for aesthetics but also for controlling hair loss/thinning &hair damage.

The particular show in which Parul featured drew many eyeballs as it also had a special deal, to be sealed by and among the Sharks. Shark Vineeta Singh became a pitcher and also sealed a deal for Rs 5 crore investment in her Sugar enterprise.

Actress Parul Gulati has acted in various TV shows including Girls Hostel, Your Honor, Illegal – Justice and Selection Day. Shark Amit Jain, impressed with her pitch, offered her what she pitched for – Rs 1 crore for 2% equity.

A couple of users claimed that the show was giving platform to celeb faces to lift its TRP ratings and in turn boost its earnings at the cost of public money while others called out the makers to refrain from publicity gimmick & rather focus on helping out those in real need.

A user said, “She didn’t need funds, she needed publicity by coming on show.”

Actress Parul, while speaking to a portal, played down the claims and said that she was not born with a silver spoon and she has worked very hard to build everything that she has today and hence someone questioning her ‘affluence’ is uncalled for.
