New Delhi: Shyamchi Aai is a Marathi film featuring Om Bhutkar, Gauri Deshpande, and Sandeep Pathak in the main roles. It premiered in theaters on Diwali, November 10, 2023, and began streaming on OTT platforms starting August 13.
The monochromatic black and white film is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It is inspired by the life of social activist Pandurang Sadashiv Sane, popularly known as ‘Sane Guruji’.

The Story
The film is set in the pre-independence period and focuses on the life of a young boy named Pandurang Sadashiv Sane. Witnessing his parents endure severe poverty, he resolves to become a social activist. The film highlights the profound bond between a child and his mother during times of crisis.

The Cast
The cast of the film includes Om Bhutkar portraying Pandurang Sadashiv Sane, Sandeep Pathak as Bhaurao, and Gauri Deshpande as Yashoda. Sarang Sathaye plays Vinoba Bhave, while Sunil Abhyankar is cast as Vamanrao. Bhushan Vikas appears as Balwantrao, and Rachana Kadam takes on the role of Shyam’s elder sister. Deesha Katkar, Urmila Jagtap, and Jyoti Chandekar are featured as Durvanchi Aaji, among others.

Shyamchi Aai is directed by Sujay Dahake and produced by Amruta Arun Rao under the banners of Amruta Films and Pune Film Company. The cinematography is handled by Vijay Mishra, and the film is edited by B Mahanyeshwar. Music composition is by Ashok Patki, with Aabha Soumitra contributing, and Panorama Studios is responsible for the film’s distribution.
