Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja controversy: MyUS ousts B-Town couple over doctored invoices; Netizens call them ‘chindi chors’

In a series of tweets, the company asserted that the problem was not with the company’s service rather the documents provided by Sonam’s husband.

New Delhi: The Aisha star Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja got involved in a controversy of showcasing doctored invoices, apparently to avoid paying taxes and custom duties, as claimed by the international shipping company, MyUS. In a series of tweets, the company asserted that the problem was not with the company’s service rather the documents provided by Sonam’s husband.

Anand Ahuja taking to Twitter on January 27 questioned if anyone has any contacts in MyUS as they are delaying his shipment. “Does anyone know someone at MyUS – I have had HORRIBLE experience recently. They are holding items improperly, rejecting formal paperwork & refusing to acknowledge any reasoning,” he wrote.

The company acknowledged that they have limited resources in social media and it will be advisable for him to contact their customer service team through mail or chat. To which Ahuja wrote, “Have been trying to resolve with email CS for 7+ days and spent 2hrs with chat CS yesterday before this tweet. They are unable to resolve- offering unfair, ones sided & even fraudulent solutions. Your company’s new “policies” are malicious and a SCAM.”

Sonam Kapoor also quoting Ahuj’s tweet posted, “Terrible customer service is shameful.”

After the issue was reported by The Bombay Times and later Economic Times, who blamed the company for troubling the couple, MyUS cleared the air stating, “This is not a matter of customer service quality, new policies, or holding items improperly as was tweeted. Mr Ahuja misrepresented the price he paid for sneakers purchased on eBay, which would result in him paying fewer duties and taxes.”

This tweet did not go well as far as the couple’s reputation is concerned. After the tweet went viral, the netizens backlashed the couple for using doctored invoices and are calling them “chindi chors” despite being rich. The netizens are flooding the Twitter wall with memes. Here are some of the best ones:
