New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor & Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ recorded impressive start with the Box office collections on Day 1, however, the movie failed to sustain the momentum.
The movie hogged enough limelight, on back of Ranbir’s lover boy image & also director Luv Ranjan’s unconventional takes on romantic twists & turns of life.
The highly anticipated rom-com lived upto expectations of filmmakers on back of rocking start in initial days, however, the dip in earnings has come as a setback for Hindi film industry as well. In recent times, 3 big blockbuster movies including Shehzada & Selfiee failed to draw large crowd to the theatres despite festive season of Holi.
Luv Ranjan directorial reportedly minted Rs 10 crore on Day 2, as per trends, reported by entertainment portals.

Sharing the details of earnings, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted and gave detailed break-up of earnings.
“#TJMM at national chains… Day 2 / Thu [working day]… Update: 9.45 pm… #PVR: 2.30 cr #INOX: 1.53 cr #Cinepolis: 87 lacs Total: ₹ 4.70 cr Nett BOC,” he tweeted. The figure for day 1 was Rs 7.85 crore.
The movie has other B-town celebs in lead roles including Dimple Kapadia, Boney Kapoor, and Anubhav Singh Bassi in key roles. Kartik Aryan also has a cameo role in the movie.
Will BO earnings jump in weekend?
Meanwhile, the filmmakers are eying the extended weekend and hoping to set the cash registers ringing again. Luv Ranjan’s last directoial was Kartik Aryan starrer Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety, which did fairly well on BO and posted Rs 6 crore earnings on Day 1 of release.
Till date, the earnings of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar stands at Rs 25 crores. The movie has recorded advancing booking for the film amounting to 1 lakh tickets, making it the 2nd biggest Bollywood flick of 2023.
