New Delhi: Tamil superstar Santhanam’s recently released period-comedy Vadakkupatti Ramasamy received a decent reception from the cine-0philes in the theaters. Made on a small budget of Rs 12 crores, the movie struggled to click with the viewers’ taste efforts but somehow managed to keep them glued to the screens till credit rolled.
The USP of the film was its intriguing plotline and the top-notch humorous delivered by its lead cast for which it garnered significant praise from the audiences as well as the critics. Vadakkupatti Ramasamy enjoyed a satisfactory run at the Box Office & emerged as a success for Santhanam as well as the filmmakers. With the conclusion of the comedy entertainer’s theatrical journey, its next destination, as per the sources, is the digital platform Amazon Prime which has reportedly bagged the film’s digital rights for a good price.

Although an official confirmation regarding the movie’s OTT release date is yet to be made by the makers, it is expected that Vadakkupatti Ramasam will be available for streaming on Prime Video on or around 8 March 2024. However, it may be noted that only those users who have a subscription to the OTT platform’s service will get access to the movie.
Vadakkupatti Ramasamy Plot
The family entertainer, helmed by Karthik Yogi, follows the life of a crooked money-minded guy Ramamsamy (Santhanam) who, despite being an athist, tricks the people of Vedakkuppati by constructing a temple and a stone to make easy money out of their religious faith.
However, when the village’s newly appointed Tehsildar learns about Ramamsamy’s money game, he gets the Temple closed and the same ignites a conflict between the two. The remaining story of the film sees Ramamsamy making all possible efforts to get the temple reopened by transforming into a person he never thought he could be someday.

Besides the star power of Santhanam, Vadakkupatti Ramasam features a stellar cast that sees ace actors including Megha Akash M.S Bhaskar, Maaran, John Vijay, and many others in key roles. The movie was produced by T. G. Vishwa Prasad and Vivek Kuchibotla who got it released under the banner of People Media Factory on 2 February 2024.
