Vidya Balan to reprise her iconic role of ‘Monjulika’ in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2? Makers break silence

This year marks the premiere of Anees Bazmee’s directorial ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’, featuring Kartik Aryan and Ananya Panday in the lead roles.

Be it Vidya Bagchi from ‘Kahaani’ or ‘Silk Smitha’ in blockbuster hit ‘The Dirty Picture’, Balan has always earned praises for her on-screen performances.

However, her terrific role as ‘Monjulika’ in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ has a special place in the heart of every movie lover.

Ever since the sequel to 2007 released hit psychological drama was announced, fans have been wondering if Vidya Balan will reprise her popular character of ‘Monjulika’ in the upcoming movie.

If the recent news reports are to be beilieved, the actor will be seen reviving her role in the film, scheduled to be released later this year.

According to news web-portal Mid-day, a source quoted, “Their (Vidya and Anees’) relationship dates back to 2011 when Vidya appeared in Anees’ film Thank You. She immortalized the character of Manjulika, the ghost of a royal dancer. (It is unclear whether) Vidya will be seen dancing to Aami je tomar again or if she will appear after the climax.”

Director Anees Bazmee confirm’s Vidya’s appearance in the sequel while claiming ‘Monjulika’ to be his favorite character in the original film, “If the film is Bhool Bhulaiyaa, she has to be there in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Let the rest be a surprise!”.

The sequel which is produced by Bhushan Kumar, also features Rajpal Yadav, Amar Upadhyay, and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles.

The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on March 25, 2022.
