New Delhi: Amazon Prime Video has released its 2021 list of Original Series and Movies, blockbuster films, and TV series heading to the streaming service. Subscribers need to gear up for an action-packed.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (July 1)
Audrey Hepburn’s place as an eternal icon of style was cemented by her role as the eccentric socialite Holly Golightly. The plot concerns a budding romance between Holly and her new neighbor, a writer played by George Peppard. Both are long on ambition and short on cash. Hepburn earned an Oscar nomination. (1961, NR)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (July 1)
Tim Burton puts his visual inventiveness to work on Roald Dahl’s classic tale. Johnny Depp creates a memorable Willy Wonka, and Freddie Highmore is Charlie, the unlikely recipient of a golden ticket in the candy maker’s contest. Rolling Stone declared: “Depp’s deliciously demented take on Willy Wonka demands to be seen.” (2005, PG)
The Matrix Sequels (July 1)
The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, the two sequels to the groundbreaking science fiction film The Matrix, were shot simultaneously and released six months apart. Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) continue the fight for human freedom against the machines. (2003, R)
Nerve (July 1)
Emma Roberts stars in this fast-moving thriller about internet voyeurism and a twisted, potentially deadly game of truth or dare. Variety says Nerve “is hard to stop watching.” (2016, PG-13)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (July 4)
Brad Pitt plays the title character, whose case is indeed curious: Benjamin Button is born looking like an old man and gets younger every day. He and normally aging Daisy (Cate Blanchett) overlap long enough to fall in love. The Hollywood Reporter called the film “superbly made.” It earned 13 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The Salesman (July 6)
The winner of the 2017 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was written and directed by Asghar Farhadi. The Iranian story involves a husband and wife starring in a production of Death of a Salesman who find their offstage world torn apart when the wife is assaulted. The rage of powerlessness pervades the husband’s stage role and his own life. (2016, PG-13)
Mr. Robot, Season 2 (July 13)
Rami Malek’s Emmy-winning performance is a good reason to watch this genre-defying drama series, but it’s far from the only one. Malek plays gifted but troubled computer expert Elliot Alderson, who takes up with a band of hackers fighting a monolithic corporation. Elliot guides us through Mr. Robot’s dystopian world, but we are never sure whether what he’s showing us is real or hallucination. (2016, TV-MA)
Miss Sloane (July 19)
Jessica Chastain earned a Golden Globes nomination for her work as Elizabeth Sloane, a high-powered Washington lobbyist who gets entangled in a nasty fight over gun-control legislation, putting her career and freedom at risk. (2016, R)
Niko and the Sword of Light (July 21)
This charming Amazon Original adventure story for kids takes place in a fantastic alien land. Ten-year-old Niko, the last of his kind, goes on a quest to return light to his world. He is armed only with the Sword of Light and an unstoppable spirit. (2017, TV-G)
The Last Tycoon, Season 1 (July 28)
Hollywood in the 1930s is the setting for this Amazon Original series, a crackling adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final, unfinished novel. Matt Bomer plays Monroe Stahr, the boy-wonder producer still grieving for his late wife. Kelsey Grammer is Pat Brady, the bottom-line-fixated studio boss, and Lily Collins is Brady’s ambitious, love-struck daughter. (2017, TV-MA)
Chef (July 28)
A chef with a prominent but unsatisfying job — and life — trades his Michelin star for a food truck and rediscovers his happiness. Jon Favreau wrote, directed and stars in this well-reviewed comedy. With Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson. (2014, R)
The Living and the Dead, Season 1 (July 28)
Horror fans will love this British import, which earned praise for being both beautiful and terrifying. In 1894, a young couple inherits a farm but soon finds the family homestead is a nexus of supernatural forces. (2016, TV-14)

These voyages of the starship Enterprise range from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) to Star Trek: Insurrection (1998).
