New Delhi: Veteran director Tinnu Anand is well known for his fine work in a number of iconic movies including Shahenshah, Agnipath and Kaalia.
Recently, in a chat with Radio Nasha, the director spoke about a shocking incident that occurred during the shot of his 1989 release Shanakht.
In his classic action drama, Tinnu cast legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan along with one of the most gorgeous divas of the 80s Madhuri Dixit as the leading pair of the film.
Madhuri’s hesitation to shoot in Bra
Speaking about the incident, Tinnu revealed that the problem began when Madhuri Dixit refused to one particular scene during which the actress was supposed to remove her blouse and reveal her bra. He said, “I narrated the entire sequence to Madhuri and clearly told her that when you remove your blouse we should see you in your bra and I am not going to hide it behind any haystack and she said ok.”
Tinnu even said that he left it to Madhuri to choose or design any bra she wants to put on but also made it clear that it has to be a bra as the actress will be undoing her blouse and offering herself to save her lover in the said scene.
Although the actress initially didn’t raise any objections, she started showing her unwillingness to do the particular scene on the day of the shoot and told the director that she didn’t want to do it. Speaking about the same the director said, “I went into her makeup room and told her that I am sorry but you have to show your bra and this is my first scene. ”
However, when the actress still refused to listen to the stubborn director’s request and do the scene, Tinu lost his cold and immediately told her to pack up and leave the movie.
Secretary turns peacemaker
Tinu further revealed that even when the movie’s lead actor Amitabh Bachchan tried convincing him to let go of that particular scene as Madhuri was objecting to it, he stood his ground and replied to him saying, “Objection movie sign karne se pehle hota hai” (If she wanted to object, she should have done it prior to signing the movie. ”
Recalling Madhuri’s personal secretary Reku’s role as a peacemaker in the whole situation, Anand said that it was Reku who stopped him from throwing Madhuri out of the movie and assured him that the actress would be doing the Bra reveal scene. Thanks to Riku’s intervention, the shooting of the film finally resumed with Madhuri still being a part of the same.
Eventually, the shot of the movie was wrapped up in just 5 days but unfortunately, it never made its way to the theaters and was abandoned shortly after.
