Will ‘The Kerala Story’ boom or bomb at BO? Advance booking of tickets give a hint

New Delhi: Amid all the hype & hoopla over release of ‘The Kerala Story’, all eyes are on the opening of film at the Box Office (BO). If advance ticket bookings are an indicator of things to come, it portends a good sign.

The movie has reportedly clocked 32,000 tickets sales in advance bookings, which is fifth highest for a Hindi film in 2023.

The advance ticket booking numbers, sourced from 3 national multiplexes namely PVR , InoX and Cinepolis give a fair share about movie’s outcome.

With all three national multiplexes registering cumulative sales of about 32,000 tickets, a day prior to its release, the Kerala Story is headed for a good opening at BO and also a good run in the cinemas, say film analysts. With current rate of bookings, the movie is estimated to easily exceed Rs 10 crore mark in the weekend, domestically.

Based on advance booking numbers, the movie is likely to earn Rs 5 crore on opening day or even more.

Though, year 2023 saw a couple of blockbusters like SRK starrer Pathaan & Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, ‘The Kerala Story’ has its own reasons & controversies to make it big at the Box Office.

The movie has clocked advance ticket bookings, more than other big starrer films like Shehzada & Selfie and hence filmbuffs are excited over its bumper run.

Remember, a similar film The Kashmir Files released in theatres amid much controversy and despite looked down upon by many in the film fraternity, it went on to turn into blockbuster and netted Rs 250 in earnings.

Kerala Story Vs Guardians of Galaxy

Though the movie is not witnessing any competition at the Box Office, an English movie The Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is hitting the theatres alongwith it.

Despite the English movie coming from Marvel banner, it is unlikely to spoil the show of Kerala Story. Moreover, the extended weekend will give movie lovers will be spoilt for choices.
