Yash Chopra’s wife Pamela Chopra dies at 74

The Indian playback singer Pamela Chopra was admitted for 15 days to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital. Reportedly, she was put on a ventilator but doctors didn’t find any improvement.

New Delhi: Pamela Chopra, the wife of late filmmaker Yash Chopra passed away on Thursday morning, after a brief spell of illness. The 74-year-old playback singer was reportedly admitted in a Mumbai hospital for two weeks. Reports suggest that she was put on ventilator but her health didn’t improve & died this morning.

Chopra family also issued a statement & informed the fans & well-wishers that Pamela Chopra was cremated this morning at 11 AM. It also sought privacy for the family in this moment of grief & mourning.

Pamela Chopra and Yash Chopra got married in 1970 through a traditional marriage ceremony. The couple was soon blessed with two sons, Aditya Chopra, a director and producer in the Indian film industry, and Uday Chopra, who is an Indian film actor and producer.

Pamela Chopra last faced the camera in the YRF documentary “The Romantics”, which featured the works of Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra in the Indian film industry. Pamela once mentioned on this show, that Yash had sleepless nights during his first project as a producer. As mentioned, he also often approached his wife to understand the female perspective of things.

Pamela Chopra has contributed some amazing songs, such as Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Kabhie Kabhie, among others, to the bollywood industry. However, she gave her voice only for Yash Chopra movies. Not just this, she was also talented as a script writer, which took her to co- write the 1997 film of Dil To Pagal Hai, along with her husband, her son Aditya and writer Tanuja Chandra. She also single-handedly produced the 1993 film Aaina. Besides this, it was just once when she was seen on the big screen in the song “Ek Duje Ke Vaaste” from the movie “Dil To Pagal Hai”. It showcased Pamela Chopra along with her husband Yash Chopra.
