2022 Assembly polls: Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra on 2022 UP Assembly elections said that representatives of all political parties met them  and told them that elections should be conducted on time following all COVID19 protocols.

CEC Sushil Chandra also said that it is a matter of concern on why the voting percentage is less in the state where there is high political awareness among people.

# Election body said that elections will be held on time and with covid protocols.

# Chief Election Commissioner  said that the list of final voters list will be released on January 5, 2022.

# Election Commission will reach the doorsteps for voters who are above 80 years of age, persons with disabilities, and COVID affected people who are unable to come to the polling booth.

# VVPATs will be installed at all voting booths.

# For keeping Elections transparent, Live webcasting facilities will be available at around 1 lakh voting booths.

# Voting during Assembly elections will be held from 8am to 6pm on the date of polling.

This comes after Election Commission team visited Uttar Pradesh ahead of the date announcement.

In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, voter turnout in UP was 59%. In 2017 UP assembly elections, voter turnout in UP was 61% .
