New Delhi: Four Congress MPs Manickam Tagore, TN Prathapan, Jothimani and Ramya Haridas were suspended from Lok Sabha for disrupting proceedings of the House. The 4 lawmakers have been suspended for the entire Monsoon session.

Lok Speaker Om Birla had earlier warned them to mend ways and not protest with placards inside the House.
The proceedings of the House were adjourned on Monday as Opposition members created uproar over price rise & inflation and demanded discussion on the issue.

While the Opposition protest against price rise, some members trooped into well of the House and waved placards inside the House. Rajya Sabha also saw uproarious scenes and walk out by Opposition members.

Lok Sabha

Congress Deputy leader in LS Guarav Gogoi told press that the MPs were holding placards to register protest on rising prices of gas cylinder, GST on flour and buttermilk. We demanded discussion on this but nobody listened to us.

Speaker Om Birla warned the MPs that he was willing for discussion on the issue after 3 pm, but for that they must have to stop placard show inside the House.

“If you want to show placards, do it outside the house. I am ready for discussions, but don’t think my kind-heartedness is weakness,” he said.

When the session resumed after 3 pm, the opposition MPs again returned with the placards.

Congress slammed the move to suspend its MPs from the remainder of session and said that it was attempt to intimidate lawmakers and muzzle the voice of people.
